In a single sentence, this film is about a person who turned into an atheist on the question of proof and historical facts. However, the same person becomes a theist on the basis of evidence and history.

The lead character Dr. Aryan Kulsreshtha is an ASI archaeologist who is a strong believer in scientific and historical facts. He has already discovered the treasures of King Dahir and the reclining Buddha statue near the Buddhas of Bumyan in Afghanistan. This survey was done with a team of archaeologists from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Japan. Ram Setu is to be demolished in 2007 for the construction of a canal because according to the government, Ram Setu is a natural formation. Aryan is tasked with writing a report on the subject. Initially Aryan rejects this offer, not having studied it but after being promised a promotion he joins the project. In his report, he questions the existence of Lord Shree Ram. The government gets into trouble for this report and is humiliated in court. On the other hand, the public gets angry. As a result, Aryan is suspended from ASI. After this incident, the rich and renowned businessman Indrakant, who wants to destroy Ram Setu, tries to persuade Aryan to research Ram Setu and join an archaeological exploration. Aryan rejects it remembering the hostility he got from the public last time. However, he decides to accept Indrakanta's offer to discover the truth and meets fellow scientists, Dr. Sandra Rebello and Dr. Gabrielle who are assigned to work with him. Aryan visits deep underwater and finds coral reefs. Research starts to show that Ram Setu is man-made and that it may have been built by Shree Ram. So, Aryan, Gabrielle, and Rebello go deep into the ocean to collect more rocks and evidence about Ram Setu. On the other hand, Indra Kant thinks it might be against his purpose and decides to kill them. However, Aryan and his team members manage to escape from the submarine that has stopped working, with the help of a man named AP, Anjaneya PushpaKumaram.

For the rest of the journey, Aryan had AP with him. But who is AP? That's a surprise also.

This film presents many historical facts through adventure and action in a commendable way. There are very few well-researched films in Bollywood and Ram Setu will be on that list. It looks like the screenplay in the movie is all right. After Aryan and his team reach Sri Lanka, the movie looks interesting. There are some continuity errors, like Akshay Kumar's beard turning into stubble and then returning to normal again in the next scene. The overall VFX in the film is quite impressive but the VFX in the underwater exploration scenes, and in helicopter scenes could have been better. The makers should have paid attention to the chase scenes and action sequences to make them better. However, a 20-minute courtroom drama at the end covers all the flaws. The facts and pieces of information presented in that scene are really impressive. We have not seen such well-researched facts presented in any recent Bollywood film in the recent past. The title song of this movie 'Jai Shree Ram' literally gives goosebumps.

There are different opinions about Akshay Kumar in a serious role but this time he is completely successful. Despite her short appearance in this movie, Nusrat Bharucha's performance as Akshya's wife is fine. Jacqueline Fernandez as Rebello plays an important role but she does not look very impressive. It seems like the directors or makers only focused on Akshay Kumar's character and did not give enough time to build other characters. There is a very impressive performance from Satyadev Kancharana as AP that makes the movie more interesting.

In the end, this movie offers a complete package of entertainment with some historical facts that never disappoint.
